How preparing, conducting and monitoring paediatric clinical trials?
These challenging questions were answered during the training “Essentials of Paediatric Clinical Research”, held in Madrid (Spain), on 24 October 2019.
Over 50 participants coming from industry, clinical research organizations, academia and patient advocacy convened at C.N.I.O. (Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncológicas) in Madrid for this paediatric event, organized by EUCROF.
The Training provided an overview of the landscape of paediatric research and summarised all specific and most important areas in paediatric drug development.
It is generally a fact that the development of paediatric medicines has been largely neglected for ethical and economic reasons, but there has been a gradual shift to the current consensus that children deserve the same level of health care as any other age group. In line with this, developing medicines for the paediatric population became more complex and created the needs requiring high-level experts.
This Training successfully covered all relevant topics presented by the speakers who had a strong expertise in paediatric research and prepared the participants to plan and execute paediatric clinical trials in any of the ages which will result in obtaining higher-quality data.
The event was successful and certainly not the last one, because education and training about research is essential for the EUCROF mission and a specific working group is dedicated to the improvement of child health.
