ICH E6(R3) introduces a new mindset for oversight of service providers, emphasizing proportionate risk management and systems-based quality rather than procedural compliance. The session offers a pragmatic framework for adapting vendor management practices to the evolving regulatory expectations defined in ICH E6(R3).

Dr Christoph Ortland is a Clinical Development Expert with more than 30 years of experience in the clinical development of medicinal products and medical devices. He started his career in the early 1990s in international pharmaceutical companies, where he held various operational and leadership roles in clinical research and project management. Since 2011, he has been working as an independent consultant and GCP expert, supporting sponsors and CROs in planning, conducting, and overseeing clinical trials with a strong focus on Good Clinical Practice and pragmatic quality management. As founder and CEO of Forschungsdock CRO GmbH, he and his team provide full study management, oversight services, consulting and quality services for small and medium-sized, often inexperienced sponsors. Dr Ortland is an experienced GCP auditor and trainer, conducting qualification, system and site audits as well as numerous practice-oriented trainings and seminars for investigators, study nurses, CRAs, project managers, and quality personnel.
